August Hieber joined the CBF staff in September 2021 and currently serves as the Manager of Programs & Advocacy. In this role, August is responsible for supporting the CBF’s court advocacy, legislative advocacy, and pro bono programs.
August comes to the CBF after completing an Equal Justice Works fellowship at CDEL where they designed Proud to Thrive, a new program that provides legal services to LGBT elders through mobile legal clinics and workshops at community sites across Chicago. Prior to their fellowship, August interned at Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General.
August graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from University of Cincinnati in 2014, and they earned their J.D. with a Certificate in Public Interest Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
In their spare time, August enjoys biking, hiking, road trips, and listening to Carly Rae Jepson.
