Sang Yup Lee joined the CBF staff in July of 2021 as the Director of Development. In this role, Sang leads the CBF’s fundraising efforts and oversees all aspects of the CBF’s individual and corporate giving programs. He also leads the annual Investing in Justice Campaign, which fully funds the CBF’s grantmaking efforts.

Prior to joining the CBF, Sang was the Development Manager at the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI), Development Specialist at the Youth Leadership Academy, and Volunteer Engagement & Events Manager at Literacy DuPage. Prior to his career in development, Sang was an attorney for the Progressive Law Group LLC, where he worked on class action litigation and consumer rights cases.

Sang earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He earned a B.A. in Psychology in 2005 and a J.D. in 2009. He currently serves as President of the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, and he has spoken and been published on issues concerning the Asian American legal community. He also serves as the Board Secretary and the Annual Meeting Programming Chair of the National Conference of Bar Foundations and on the Fundraising Committee of the Management Information Exchange for Legal Aid.

A resident of Evanston, Sang enjoys spending time with his wife and son taking walks, building Lego projects, playing Mario games, and participating in local racial justice initiatives together.
