Jessica Uwamusi joined the CBF staff in August 2023 as the Program Manager for Illinois JusticeCorps. The JusticeCorps program recruits college students and recent graduates to serve as guides and help people without lawyers navigate the court system by providing referrals to legal aid, procedural information, and assistance with filling out and filing court documents.

As a Program Manager for Illinois JusticeCorps, Jessica is responsible for overseeing all JusticeCorps operations for the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Lake County. In addition, Jessica works on other CBF advocacy initiatives for programs and policies that make the courts more user-friendly, fair, and accessible for all, especially people who come into the legal system without lawyers.

Prior to joining the CBF, Jessica obtained a Master of Laws from the University of Illinois College of Law, during which she served in several school leadership positions and received recognition for her academic performance. Before getting an LLM, Jessica obtained a Barrister of Law at the Nigerian Law School and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Benin in Edo, Nigeria. Jessica lives on the north side of Chicago. When she’s not at the CBF, she enjoys watching movies, reading novels, and stage acting.
