The CBF’s Justice Society is a special group of donors who commit to support the CBF for three or more years. Through their long-term support, Justice Society members ensure that our legal community can continue to come together through the CBF to address systemic issues affecting access to justice, which can take years to tackle and resolve. The CBF’s Legacy of Justice Society members take their support further by making a planned gift to the CBF, placing their trust in the CBF to steward their legacy for many years to come

Investing in Justice Campaign

The annual Investing in Justice Campaign rallies Chicago’s entire legal community around our common cause of ensuring that everyone has access to necessary legal help, not just people who can afford it. Thousands of individual lawyers and legal professionals at more than 130 Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments, companies, and other law-related organizations participate in the Campaign.

Other Ways To Give

There are many ways to make a difference in supporting the CBF. Every gift to the CBF makes a difference in building a fairer and better justice system, and there are several ways you can make an even bigger and long-lasting impact. Whatever way you choose to give, the common thread is it all makes a difference.

Donor-Advised Funds

A donor advised fund (DAF) provides immediate tax deductions and allows you to make gifts over time.

Gifts of Stock or Securities

Gifts of appreciated stock or securities can provide potentially significant tax benefits.

IRA Charitable rollover
A Tax-Saving Way to Help the CBF from your IRA. If you are 70½ years or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit the CBF and receive tax benefits in return. You can give up to $100,000 to the CBF without having to pay income taxes on the money.
Employer Matching Gifts
Many companies match donations that an employer makes to a charitable contribution. Ask if your employer will match your gift to the CBF.

Our Supporters

None of this would be possible without the generosity, commitment and leadership of our supporters. We are grateful for you and everyone who has joined with us in the fight to ensure equal access to justice. Thank you again for making a real difference in our community.

The CBF’s annual Investing in Justice Campaign supports the work of more than 30 pro bono and legal aid organizations and related initiatives in the Chicago area. More than 4,000 individual donors support the Campaign each year. The CBF directs 100% of those donations toward grants to these organizations.

Justice Society Members

Members of the CBF Justice Society make a distinct and long-term impact in creating a justice system that is more fair, accessible and efficient for everyone in our community. The CBF is deeply grateful for the leadership and generosity of its Justice Society members.

Annual Fund Members

The Chicago Bar Foundation is thankful for donors to our Annual Fund, which drives the CBF’s systemic efforts beyond the good work made possible by the Investing in Justice Campaign. These generous donors are improving access to justice through community leadership, legislative and policy advocacy, and court system advocacy.
