Riding the momentum of the tremendous impact that you have made possible through the CBF this year, we collectively have an opportunity to make an even bigger difference in the coming year and beyond. While we remain a long way from fulfilling our nation’s ideals of equal access to justice, our legal community continues to make real progress together in building a fairer and better justice system for all, thanks to your leadership and strong support.
Your donation today will make a big impact in improving access to justice for people who need legal help now. If you want to make an even bigger and long-lasting impact and help ensure that future generations of Chicagoans can continue to benefit from and build on your legacy, below are some ways that you can give while getting some notable tax advantages:
- Stocks, mutual funds, and bonds: Consider donating your long-term appreciated securities directly to the CBF, which in addition to the direct impact of your gift can gave significant tax benefits for you.
- Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD): In 2025, you can donate up to $108,000 tax-free from your IRA via a QCD if you are age 70 ½ or older. Once you have reached the age of 73, the qualified charitable distributions also count towards your required minimum distribution for the year without being taxable income.
- Planned gifts: You can also make a planned gift to leave a legacy of justice that extends well into the future. For example, you can designate the CBF as a beneficiary of your will, trust, donor advised fund, life insurance policy, and/or retirement account (like an IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan).
