Every day at the Daley Center, hundreds of people try to navigate the court system without a lawyer. Many arrive unsure of where to go, which forms to complete, or where they can find help. The Resource Center for People without Lawyers, a joint initiative of the Circuit Court of Cook County and the CBF, has been a critical source of support for these court users, and a new technology called GoodeDesk is helping to make that experience even more accessible and efficient.
In partnership with Gravamen Technologies, Inc., the CBF and our Resource Center partners have launched GoodeDesk, which replaces a largely paper-based process with a modern, user-friendly system. This customized innovation, designed specifically for the Resource Center, allows Illinois JusticeCorps members to collect information digitally, route patrons directly to appropriate on-site legal aid partners, and automatically populate court forms using the information the patrons provide. By reducing paperwork and repetitive data entry, GoodeDesk streamlines the way JusticeCorps members welcome and assist patrons, ensuring they can help more people receive the right help more quickly and with less confusion.
GoodeDesk also strengthens coordination among JusticeCorps fellows and the legal aid organizations working together in the Resource Center, creating a more seamless experience for everyone involved. With GoodeDesk, the Resource Center is taking another important step toward a more welcoming and accessible court system for all.
