JEP Helps Small Businesses Navigate the Pandemic

As small businesses wrestle with the unprecedented challenges caused by the pandemic, the CBF Justice Entrepreneurs Project (JEP) hosted a free virtual workshop for the small businesses in the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce earlier this month. “Ask JEP: Navigating Legal Relationships in a Time of COVID” was designed to help these businesses understand and respond to the unique legal issues brought by COVID-19.

Facilitated by JEP alumni Lauren Cichowski of 3BL law, Darren Perconte of Perconte Law and Jason Shimotake of The Shimotake Law Firm, this workshop addressed the changing relationships between small businesses and their landlords and employees. The program specifically covered lease management, commercial lease negotiation, rent mediation, and employee handbooks. The JEP received positive feedback on the workshop and expects this will be the first of many sessions the JEP will host to address COVID-related legal issues.
