The 19th annual Investing in Justice Campaign formally kicked off last week at a time when our legal community’s leadership and strong support are especially important for our legal aid partners and the people who depend on them. As 2025 Campaign Chair Krist Werling eloquently put it, “Now is the time to live our profession’s values, put our money where our oaths are, and build on the incredible legacy of the Investing in Justice Campaign.”
The Campaign rallies Chicago’s entire legal community around our profession’s common cause of helping to ensure that everyone has access to necessary legal help, not just people who can afford it. Each year, thousands of individual lawyers and legal professionals at nearly 150 Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments, companies, and other law-related organizations participate in the Campaign.
100% of individual contributions to the Campaign directly support the work of more than 30 pro bono and legal aid organizations and related initiatives, enabling them to provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of people in need.
The Investing in Justice Campaign is the largest campaign of its kind anywhere in the country. Since its inception in 2007, the Campaign has raised more than $20 million in individual donations, which has leveraged millions more in additional funding through the CBF’s foundation and government partners.
