Who Should Attend: Legal aid staff who who engage in negotiations on behalf of clients
Why You Should Attend:
Whether you’re helping clients avoid homelessness, working to keep families together, or fighting to vindicate past wrongs, chances are you will be called upon to negotiate at some point in your legal career. This hands-on program will help you develop practical bargaining and negotiation skills that may be used in both litigation and transactional matters. Participants will engage in interactive role-playing throughout the program and receive individualized feedback from KLG attorneys.
What You Will Learn:
By the end of the training, participants will:
- Understand the basic principles of legal bargaining and strategy
- Be familiar with the most common hardball bargaining tactics participants may face during a negotiation
- Know how to prepare for and engage in negotiations for the settlement of a lawsuit
- Be comfortable addressing the potential ethical issues that may arise during various types of negotiations
- Have tools to manage client relationships during a negotiation
