Fundamentals of Workplace Trauma
On behalf of the CBF’s Patton Legal Aid Training Academy (PLATA) and our partners, we’re excited to invite your organization to participate in a five-part online training series focused on supporting wellness in the workplace through trauma-informed practice. In partnership with Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois (LTF), the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF), and the Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF), we are bringing in the Erikson Institute to lead this important series.

Cohort 1: Supervisors (select one person)
Cohort 2: Front-line staff members (such as intake workers, paralegals, social workers, or staff attorneys) with significant direct client contact (select one person)

Why This Matters:
We recognize the intense and often emotional demands of legal aid work, especially in today’s environment. The pressures of this profession affect everyone differently—what helps one person thrive may leave another feeling depleted.
This series is designed to help us build a shared understanding and practical tools for navigating stress and fostering resilience. Together, we’ll explore strategies that support not only our own well-being, but also the health of our teams and organizations.
How to Participate:
We hope that you will help us by selecting two of your staff members (one supervisor and one front-line worker) who can commit to participating in the full series. Additionally, we hope that your Executive Director will view a pre-recorded 30-minute executive orientation session designed to accompany the program, which will be made available in January.
