Welcome Roya and Congrats Samoane!February 23, 2023
The CBF is excited to welcome Roya Samarghandi as our new Associate Director of Advocacy, Innovation, & Training. As Associate Director of Advocacy, Innovation, & Training, Roya will play a key role in the CBF’s mission through her work on legislative and policy advocacy, innovation initiatives, and the CBF Legal Aid Academy.
An alumna of the Justice Entrepreneurs Project (JEP), Roya built a very successful practice, Carmel Law LLC, where she helped clients with family law, criminal, and domestic violence cases. While maintaining her busy practice, Roya also volunteered for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and served on their Young Professionals Board and also served the CBF Advocacy Committee and JEP Advisory Board.
Roya received her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and she also holds a Masters of Law Degree in International Human Rights from the University of Nottingham (U.K.). Her B.A. is in Political Science from Miami University (Ohio).
We also are pleased to announce Samoane Williams is getting a well-deserved promotion to become Director of the JEP program as Roya starts in her new role.
