February brought the bittersweet news that our Director of Development & Communications, Elena Dennis, is going to be leaving us at the end of the month for a new position with LINK Unlimited Scholars. LINK Unlimited is an impressive organization helping African American youth to succeed in high school and beyond, and Elena will have a great opportunity to take her development talents and experience to the next level there.
Elena has done it all on the development and communications front at the CBF over the past 3½ years (and before that as a star CBF intern while she was in college). In a time of transition for our development efforts over these past few years, Elena has done a great job throughout—particularly so this past year with all the pivots the pandemic forced us to quickly make for the Investing in Justice Campaign, our events, and our communications. We wish Elena the best as she continues her development career at LINK Unlimited, and we look forward to working with her as a member of our distinguished staff alumni network.
As Elena takes this next step in her career, Emme Veenbaas is getting a well-deserved promotion to Manager of Development & Communications. We will soon be posting a Director of Development position as well. Watch for more on that soon.
