The Illinois Supreme Court last week announced a new Remote Proceedings Task Force as part of the Illinois Judicial Conference. As Chief Justice Anne M. Burke noted in the Court’s announcement, “Remote proceedings are not the wave of the future, they are our present… Illinois Courts have a long history of increasing access to justice and responding to the needs of the communities they serve.”
Remote access is a critical part of making the system fair and accessible for all, and one of the CBF’s central priorities in our new strategic plan. We look forward to working with the new Task Force to build on the many successes of remote access during the pandemic.
