Building off of the positive progress made on our priority issues in 2022, a small but mighty group from the CBF returned to Washington D.C. in late March to continue our advocacy efforts in partnership with the CBA, ABA, and ISBA.
We continue to advocate for a significant increase in funding for the Legal Services Corporation in an effort to fulfill our nation’s fundamental promise of equal justice for all Americans regardless of income. LSC plays a critical role in the overall funding landscape for legal aid by supporting vital legal services all over the country that address real world problems like housing, economic instability, and protection from domestic violence.
We also renewed our call for a long-term, sustainable solution to the student debt crisis. Addressing the root causes of this growing problem will create a viable pathway for attorneys who seek to pursue careers in public service and other practices that provide free and affordable legal services within their communities.
