The board of the Chicago Area Foundation for Legal Services (CAFLS), a special initiative at The Chicago Community Trust supporting legal aid for low-income Chicago residents,recently voted to dissolve CAFLS and create a special fund at the Trust to support legal aid. Going forward, grant dollars from thisfund will be provided to The Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) to make grants to pro bono and legal aid organizations in the Chicago area.On March 10, 2011, a reception was held to honor CAFLS’ leadership for its 29 years of service and to celebrate the partnership between CAFLS, The Chicago Community Trust, the CBF and pro bono and legal aid organizations in the Chicago area. In the first rowseatedfrom left to right: TomHayward, BoardVice President of CAFLS and former CBF Board President;Ted Tetzlaff, Board President of CAFLS;and John Levi, Board Chairman of the Legal Services Corporation. They are joined by board and staff members of The Chicago Community Trust, CAFLS and the CBF.
