The CBF Kimball R. Anderson and Karen Gatsis Anderson Public Interest Law Fellowship
Fellowship Criteria
Through the generous gift of Kimball R. Anderson and Karen Gatsis Anderson, the CBF awards public interest law fellowships to provide loan repayment assistance to outstanding recent (last 5 years) law school graduates who are either presently working or who have accepted an offer to work for CBF-funded public interest law and legal aid organizations. Each year, the CBF awards one $25,000 fellowship (payable over 5 years) to an individual who demonstrates the following:
- A commitment to public interest work,
- Academic achievement in law school, and
- Outstanding character and integrity.
How to Apply
To apply for the fellowship, submit the online form below together with all of the following documents by Friday, May 1st, 2026:
- Cover letter
- Recent pay stub or letter from employer confirming anticipated employment
- Current resume
- Official Law school transcript
- Recent summary statements from all student loan lenders
- Letter(s) of reference (at least one, no more than three). We strongly encourage you to submit more than one letter of reference.
- Brief essay, no longer than three (3) pages, explaining your commitment to public interest law, your role at the CBF-funded organization, and the impact of your work at that organization. You may also include any information you feel is relevant to the selection committee’s decision, such as information about your financial need or particular circumstances.
