The CBF’s 6th Annual Investing in Justice Campaign officially kicked off on March 5, 2012 under the leadership of our 2012 Campaign Chair, Emily Nicklin of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

The Investing in Justice Campaign is a communitywide effort through which thousands of individual lawyers and legal professionals at Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments and other organizations of all sizes come together each year in spring around a cause distinctly important to us as a profession. That cause is building the capacity of our overtaxed pro bono and legal aid system to help ensure that people in need in our community have access to justice. This year, 118 law firms and corporations from throughout Chicago’s legal community are participating.

100% of the funds raised in the Campaign again will go directly towards CBF grants to more than 35 pro bono and legal aid organizations and enable them to provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of people in need. In 2011, 110 law firms, corporate legal departments and other law-related organizations, ranging in size from 1 to more than 600 lawyers, participated in the Campaign. Over 3,000 individual attorneys and legal professionals helped to raise more than $1.3 million for this cause at a time of heightened need for legal aid services.

Law firms and corporations from throughout Chicago’s legal community are currently participating in the 2012 Campaign. Justice People Deserve Not Just What They Can Afford

In just five years, the Investing in Justice Campaign has raised a total of more than $5.2 million. One hundred percent of the money raised in the 2012 Campaign will again fund CBF grants that support a comprehensive range of legal services to many thousands of people in need including the elderly, the disabled, veterans, children, domestic violence victims and people at risk of losing their homes.

Thanks to the ongoing success of the Campaign, thousands of people in need are able to get critical help, and the justice system continues to work better for everyone, making our community a fairer and better place for all of us.
